Riyadh Art Playground
An immersive public playground where art activates the street.
Color and form calibrated for two distances at once — the street and the hand.
A public playground for Riyadh Art, developed with artist L. Caldwell: designed for children, rigorous enough to hold adult attention. The brief was simple and hard: make participatory public art that reads at street scale and still rewards the person who gets close.
Creative direction covered spatial layout, material selection, and visual language: the translation layer between Caldwell's artistic vision and the practical demands of an outdoor, high-traffic site in central Riyadh.
Form and color were calibrated to operate at two distances simultaneously: legible as civic infrastructure from across the street, detailed enough to sustain curiosity at arm's reach. That tension, between the monumental and the intimate, is where the installation lives.
Designed for children. Demanding enough for everyone else.
"Public art as infrastructure for wonder, where children and city meet on equal ground."
